Paralysis (Pakshaghata) – a Vata challenge

In Ayurveda, paralysis is primarily a Vata Vyadhi (disease of the nervous system). Our great‑grandfather Dr. Lakshmaiah Sharma treated numerous stroke and palsy patients using a combination of Basti, Nasya and specialized neuromuscular oils – a tradition we continue with modern precision.

Nerve rejuvenation

Medicated Basti (enemas) and Nasya directly nourish the central nervous system, helping to revive damaged nerve pathways.

Muscle strengthening

External therapies like Pizhichil and Njavarakizhi improve muscle tone and prevent atrophy in affected limbs.

Improves coordination

Gentle strokes and specific marma points are stimulated to restore motor control and balance.

Prevents complications

Regular treatment reduces spasticity, joint stiffness and the risk of secondary issues like contractures.

Your healing path at Ayurharsha

1

Pulse & history

Dr. Sambasiva performs Nadi Pareeksha to assess the stage of Vata involvement and chooses the right oil blend (e.g. Ksheerabala, Mahanarayana).

2

Panchakarma series

A course of Basti (medicated enema), Nasya and external oleation is tailored – exactly as documented in our grandfather’s 1920s diaries.

3

Rehabilitation & diet

Post‑therapy, you receive a personalized diet (Vata‑pacifying) and gentle exercise guidance to consolidate the gains.

Duration: 28–45 days (typical inpatient program) | Outpatient options available.

“In 1975, my grandfather Dr. Lakshmaiah calmly left his body during yoga – a conscious exit that proved his mastery over Prana. He taught us that paralysis is not just about muscles; it is about reconnecting the mind with the limb. His Basti protocols still guide us.

Frequently asked questions

How soon can I start?
Ideally within the first 6 months after a stroke, but even chronic cases benefit. We have treated patients 10 years post‑stroke with significant improvement.
Which oils are used?
We use lineage‑specific oils like Ksheerabala, Dhanwantaram, and Mahanarayana, often with added bhasmas prepared by Dr. Ramamurthy’s puta method.
Is hospitalisation needed?
For best results, a 28‑day inpatient Panchakarma program is recommended. Outpatient options exist for milder cases.
Any diet restrictions?
Yes – a Vata‑pacifying diet (warm, unctuous, easily digestible) is provided during the treatment.
