In our lineage, Talapodichil (or Shirolepa) is considered a direct route to calm the mind. The herbal paste, selected after pulse diagnosis, draws out excess heat and tension, leaving you grounded and refreshed.
The cooling herbs (like brahmi, jatamamsi) soothe the central nervous system, reducing anxiety, overthinking, and mental restlessness.
Regular talapodichil balances vata and pitta in the head, helping with insomnia and disturbed sleep patterns. Many guests report dreaming vividly.
The medicated paste strengthens the hair follicles, reduces premature greying, and promotes lustrous growth – a traditional beauty secret.
For those with pitta imbalances (migraine, anger, burning eyes), the cooling lepa draws out excess heat, bringing immediate relief.
Dr. Sambasiva assesses your nadi to determine the right herbs – e.g., sandalwood for pitta, brahmi for vata, or a custom blend with dashamoola.
A thick, warm paste of fresh herbs, milk, and medicated ghee is gently applied to the entire scalp. You rest as the herbs penetrate deeply.
After 30–45 minutes, the paste is carefully removed. A mild steam may follow to enhance absorption. You emerge with a light, clear head.
Duration: 45–60 minutes | Best enjoyed as a series of 7, 14, or 21 days for chronic stress or hair concerns.
“My grandfather used to prepare this lepa for kings suffering from sleeplessness. He would grind the herbs on a stone with rose water – we still follow that same ritual.
